stemi (“we”, “us”) provides a chat-based stem separation service at stemi.tech. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights over it.
What we collect
- Account data — email, name, profile information you provide when you sign up via Clerk.
- Contact data — phone number and SMS opt-in status if you submit our waitlist or beta form.
- Audio you upload — files you submit for separation. We process them on cloud GPUs and store the resulting stems in Cloudflare R2.
- Usage data — runs you start, presets you choose, quota counts, basic event logs (sign-in, upload, run completion) via PostHog and Sentry.
- Billing data — if you upgrade to a paid plan, your payment is handled by Stripe. We never store full card numbers.
- Feedback — notes you submit through the in-app beta feedback prompt.
How we use it
- Provide the stem separation service and return your stems.
- Manage your account, enforce per-plan run quotas, and process billing.
- Send you transactional emails (sign-in, beta access, billing receipts).
- Send beta updates by SMS only if you opted in. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP.
- Improve the product through aggregate analytics and error monitoring.
Service providers we use
- Clerk — authentication and session management, including sign-in with Google if you choose it.
- Supabase — application database (users, runs, feedback, waitlist).
- Cloudflare R2 — encrypted storage for processed stems.
- Modal — cloud compute for GPU-based separation.
- Stripe — payment processing for paid plans.
- Anthropic — natural-language parsing for chat instructions.
- Groq — backup natural-language parsing for chat instructions when Anthropic is unavailable.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- Telnyx — SMS delivery (only if you opted in).
- PostHog — product analytics.
- Sentry — error monitoring.
- Vercel — website hosting.
Each provider has its own privacy practices and processes data only to deliver its specific function.
Data retention
Uploaded audio and generated stems are retained while your account is active so you can play and download them. Stems may be removed after extended inactivity. Account, billing, and waitlist data remain until you request deletion.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, request deletion of your account and associated data, opt out of marketing communications, or withdraw SMS consent at any time. Email privacy@stemi.tech and we’ll respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your beta access, and run product analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser but parts of the service will stop working.
Children
stemi is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, we’ll change the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated by email.
